VINEYARDS & TUSCANY
Located in the Tuscan countryside near Vinci, Dianella is a great base to go out and visit the main sights in Tuscany, including Florence and Chianti.
The 16th-century villa is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees that produce quality Dianella Chianti wines and olive oil, all products you can taste and buy on-site, either in your room, in the wine cellar store or during your meals at the on-site bistro/restaurant Il Magazzino.
The villa is surrounded by large and spacious gardens that offer many corners and spaces with comfortable outdoor sitting areas with views of the estate's woods, vineyards and olive groves. The swimming pool offers gorgeous panoramic vistas of the surrounding hillsides covered with vineyards, and creates a quiet and relaxing setting in which to enjoy the Tuscan sun.
Spacious and luminous suites
First, let's start with the accommodation: the villa offers six spacious and bright suites on the first floor of the villa, each with its own large bathroom, and another 6 suites in the old stables which were recently opened after years of renovation. In each of the suites you will find your own small wine cellar with Dianella wines... open up a bottle and enjoy a glass while you relax in the bathtub or enjoy a glass outdoors in the garden or terrace watching the sunset.
Staying at Dianella offers an intimate setting for those on vacation in Tuscany wishing to enjoy peace and relaxation. It is perfect for couples and friends who wish to travel together, enjoying all the services of a modern hotel without the size considering there are only 12 suites total.
Breakfast is also a quiet and delicious affair served outdoors in the garden when the weather permits, made with quality ingredients including seasonal fruits, homemade jams and fresh bread (the on-site bistro is perfect for this) as well as the farm's products. When the weather doesn't permit dining outside, a large dining hall inside the villa allows breakfast to be enjoyed... but if you're feeling really relaxed, you can also request breakfast in your room.
Innovative Tuscan cuisine at the on-site restaurant Il Magazzino
The villa opens its on-site restaurant to the general public for lunch starting at noon but resort guests get priority. The menu offers many traditional Tuscan dishes with innovative twists to offer something different from local trattorias. The restaurant is also open for dinner, as well as aperitivo, from 6pm onwards. Il Magazzino is also a wine shop, so if you're just passing by, you can stop by and taste and buy Dianella's wines from 11am.
Visit the cellars, enjoy wine tastings & cooking classes
The villa's chef and restaurant kitchen offers guests the chance to enjoy learning how to prepare some of the most popular Tuscan cuisine in cooking classes as well as just enjoying cooking demonstrations before eating a meal prepared by the chef.
As a wine resort, you could never leave Dianella without a visit to their recently renovated wine cellars and winery. The visit includes the modern cellars where the wines are first pressed and undergo their initial fermentation, as well as the cement vat cellar where several of the estate wines are fermented for longer periods or aged in wooden barriques. Along the visit, there are instruments used on the Dianella estate over the decades in wine making which make for an interesting contrast to the current tools being used (many of them are practically unchanged).
At the end of your winery visit, you cannot leave without tasting several, if not all, of Dianella's wines and olive oil, paired beautifully with local Tuscan products. In addition to the wine cellar tour and tastings, you can also enjoy the villa and its wine in a different experience: the villa often organizes wine and food events from spring through summer and into fall. Check out their website and see if an event is coming up as it will provide a special moment to enjoying the wine estate, the villa and the gardens.
If you visit Tuscany in the fall, the estate can plan truffle hunting as well as cooking classes using truffles and other local fall flavors, including the newly pressed olive oil from the estate!
A perfect location for weddings and events
It is almost superfluous to remark that the villa makes for the most gorgeous setting imaginable for a wedding reception and party, or for another special event like a company meeting. You can actually get married directly at the villa, since the estate is registered with the Vinci City Hall as a location for civil weddings.
The villa's large extensive garden surrounds the entire villa, with a patio area and the green lawns and pool area offering additional spaces where guests can mingle and enjoy. Behind the villa is a private chapel, and inside the villa there are several large halls for organizing a special reception or event at any time of the year.
For weddings and other special events, the villa offers use of the villa exclusively so that the entire property is open only to you and your guests. For weddings, this makes for the perfect location for a hosting both the wedding and guests as up to 24 guests can sleep in the suites.
In the Vinci countryside
The wine estate is located in a central location in Tuscany, with the Fi-Pi-Li motorway less than 10 minutes away. From there, it is easy to reach all of the main cities in Tuscany as well as other small towns, including San Miniato. Florence is just 30 minutes away, while Pisa is a 40 minute drive from the villa. Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano are 50 to 60 minutes away.
The town of Vinci, hometown to Leonardo da Vinci, is just a few kilometers away and here one can visit Leonardo's home and museum dedicated to his work, as well as find several restaurants and shops.
The villa staff is always on hand to offer any help, tips or suggestions as well as help with any bookings. While a car is recommended for exploring the area on your own, it is also possible to stay at Dianella without renting a car to drive on your own. For example, upon request, the staff can organize transfers from and to the Pisa or Florence airports, taxis to the local train station or book a car with chauffeur to take you wherever you want to go. If you wish to enjoy a tour of the area or across Tuscany, the villa can help with booking tour guides to show you around all the hidden corners of Tuscany, to go on a truffle hunt or hot-air balloon ride.
